If this ipod killer was coming out of MS central (software dev, etc) i wouldn't be concerned. However the team that is working on it (xbox) actually are decently creative.
Also apparently ms has taken a hands off strategy to let the division develop its own creative culture/workflow. Let us remember what really drives the great products from apple - its the creative synergy of many in a culture of passionate people who truly enjoy making things together - a highly collaborative and insanely cool environment.
Because the creative capacity of MS sucks they need to make up with it in cash and market strategy. At least they had the sense to give xbox team freedom from the predominantly borgish world of MS - multiple stupids. - sorry couldn't resist.

Am very happy with the RAM but OMG, is it expensive (590� in Belgium) :eek: :eek: :eek:
Bought it anyways. Would like to find out if I swap that second dimm out for a 2GB, would it run at 4GB of RAM? Any takers?
I dont think so the iMac only supports upto 3gb of ram because of the chipset it uses and i think the macbookpro now uses the same chipset..

Sound more and more like a rumor - AT&T and Verizon are exclusives to the iPhone here...
No, the European iPhone is the same hardware as the AT&T iPhone. It will handle voice and pokey EDGE/GPRS data on the T-Mobile USA network, but not 3G data because they use the AWS band for that.
Whether you believe that there is carrier exclusivity is irrelevant. Apple probably tests on many different carriers around the world.
The fact of the matter is Apple doesn't announce the terms of their contracts with mobile operators, so your so-called "exclusivity" could have ended at midnight yesterday.

Multiprocessor support is way way cool. That could make me throw away my work machine and just keep working with my Mac Pro :-)
Well... another thing that stops me from working with virtual machines is the lack of support for multi-monitor setups... I can't return to developing software with just one... so let's hope VMWare addresses this sometime, hopefully soon. I would really love to have my Mac with 3 monitors instead of my Pc with 2 and my mac with one... :-)
Now I'm just waiting to get my invitation email... if it happens... :rolleyes:

Why on earth would this happen? Why would they edit it to include the ix.Mac.MarketingName? I don't understand. Is there any logical explanation? I don't think it is a typo because I don't think Apple is stupid enough to edit it just in order to put a typo in. Weird.
Its humans at work - probably a human clicked a wrong button that added this thing with some placeholder name ... most likely means nothing or if anything than updated appleTV to run apps.
Universal MacOS/iOS apps just don't make sense (controlling the apps is just too different) and a apple branded TV makes no sense (appleTV does the trick for this and that way you don't have to buy an expensive TV to get the latest hardware - you just add it to the TV of your choice)

If MS releases this player, which will have full wireless integration with the msTunes Music Store through your home PC with WMA10 or your XBOX360 some people could be persuaded to get it. The end-to-end process in a major part of the iPod experience, and this is MS's plan to get in on it.
Would I get one? No, because I have an Apple computer - but 90% of the world still runs windows, and now they won't have to install third party software or worry about integration issues. Their new PC (or old with new and improved WMA10) will connect right up and automatically fill up their new, media device - all without wires!
Give MS the benefit of the doubt here. If you dismiss them, you run the risk of falling prey to their marketing/sales/monopoly-position machine.

I miss those days. This iOS style (GUI and OS X beta development) isn't wow'ing me. Not liking the grey icons, launchpad is a useless addition to application organization that works better with iOS multi-touch devices, no TRIM for third party Sandforce SSD's yet, OpenGL is lagging, no R.I., and no more change log's for developers. The iOS $99 membership (a huge drop from the $499+) is simply a way for Apple to grab money from non-developers and possibly receive feedback that is more consumer than developer driven.

Widgets are meant to get you in and out faster. Meaning if you want to just unlock you phone to click next on your media player you can unlock and not have to open an app but just click next.

Um... this is a private beta for a reason. Also, none of the Parallel's beta builds were built with debug symbols on and they were meant for public release.
Um, as a "private beta" it might be considered a "public alpha". I'm sure they're just making sure that things work before the public beta...

And with phishing-a phishing filterl, like in IE7 would be good to have for .Mac users in Safari.

Parallels just posted an update on their blog about USB 2 and 3D graphics:

We're still working on both and are still planning on including these in our next version of Parallels Worktation and Parallels Desktop. Beta launch for these products are still slated for around the turn of the year.
